Striking and beautiful with a large and unusual sun-like motif predominating in the mid-body and kiva steps in the neck. Yet, despite this major design element, the jar has a spacious, open feel that adds to its great appeal.
This could be an early masterpiece by master potter Dolorita Montoya as the sun motif has a decidedly fabric design quality by this dress-maker/potter. However, Dolorita died in 1918 and this jar has an early feel to be; so either a young, but already masterful Dolorita made it or another potter; a very good one!
Condition: Excellent, original, unrestored.
