Early storage jar with big presence. Few potters could create such large, beautifully formed jars. The black vine and flowers completely circle the jar, never separating. This is the only design element and compliments the jars gorgeous round shape beautifully. A more complex design would draw the eye away from the form and, make no mistake, form is the glory of this jar. Notice not only the wide, generous mid-body, but the almost imperceptible transition from neck to mid-body; a gentle white flow reminiscent of the rolling mountain hills just outside Kewa pueblo. The
minimal design also lets the creamy white slip provide a large open canvas.

This is a wonderful jar

Condition: Near excellent with restored mid-body cracks and overpaint over the repaired crack only, but no plaster fill.
