This is a superb Kewa dough bowl, unusual yet classic (if that makes any sense) and strikingly visual. It is a medium size dough, a size that I love, but are surprisingly elusive. Usually Kewa dough bowls exhibit one design field of classic elements (stars, ovals, geometric, etc.). This one has both ovals and stars despite the fact that it is a smaller variety. It has been used and handled a lot showing rich patina, rim chips and one crack. Even the crack is fascinating with small punched holes and a strip of rawhide keeping the crack from expanding and retaining the bowls usefulness in the home.

I have tried to collect enough medium dough bowls for a grouping or a show. In two years I collected only 3. This one is a gem!
