Superb large example in exemplary condition; winner of the Blue Ribbon in pottery at the 1976 Indian Arts and Craft Show in Chicago (ribbon included). Margaret adapted the classic Tewa water jar form and employed her signature bear paw, double rainbow bands, slightly flared rim and high polish to make it her own. Then by varying these elements, no two pieces were ever alike. (See photo on page 70 of Charles King’s exemplary book “Born of Fire”). This gorgeous example is from a Santa Fe collection where it has been loved since it’s purchase in Chicago in 1986. Margaret never made many at this size so they remain rare and collectible. Condition: Excellent with a few very tiny and expected scratches appropriate for it’s age
