Zia Polychrome Water Jar with Double Rainbow Bands and Birds, Possibly by Trinidad Medina or Lucinda Schije, c. 1920


Wonderful example with birds standing on top of and beneath double New Mexico rainbows as well as storm cloud and fine-line rain elements. There is a distinct red band at the top of the base an indicator of earlier date of creation. Deep red color; traditionally made and fired. A classic and beautiful example; made by an exceptional potter possibly Trinidad Medina or Lucinda Shije.

Size 10” tall x 11.5” wide
Condition some scuffing commensurate with its age; original and unrestored
