Santa Clara Red Miniature Butterfly Jar by Madeline Naranjo

I love Madeline’s superb deep carved pottery and I’m always thrilled to receive new work from her, especially in rarer red versus black color. This one has a pleasing shape somewhere between globular and egg shaped; very organic form. It has four abstract and deconstructed butterflies hovering over flowers; the flowers themselves growing from wavelike possibly mountain forms. That’s a lot to pack into a true miniature, but yet the design is airy, spacious. Lovely and sweet example of her work.
