Laguna Polychrome “Paint” Jar with Flowers on a Vine Design, c. 1920
$275.00
The distinctive design and deep red suggests that this is an early 20th century tourist jar from Laguna Pueblo in New Mexico. At least it appears to be a nice example of early tourist pottery. However the haphazard pattern of mineral red paint in the interior suggests that this little jar may be utilitarian, perhaps having been used to hold handmade mineral red paint for the potter to use while painting her pottery. We can only guess.
