This is a stunning small jar from Laguna Pueblo.  It is 8″ tall by 8 1/2″ in diameter.  The rim is black and there is a double framing line between the mid-body and base. The design features a checkerboard motif with butterflies(?), flowers(?), propellers(?); well, your guess is as good as mine.  What is wonderful is the pure orange as the all over dominant color.  The natural outdoor firing allowed this color to emerge over most of the pot and it is absolutely striking and distinctive.  There is a lovely fire cloud on the base, a testament to traditional firing and some orange paint spillage just inside the rim, which is delightful.

Condition is very good, no cracks or repairs or chips that I can find.  There is some spalling from age and possibly water use, but it does not at all attract from this jars’ lovely appearance; so I have chosen not to have it restored.  So it is in original condition.

I admit it; I love this jar!
