Erik Fender

Erik Fender is a San Ildefonso Pueblo traditional potter with a subtle contemporary flair. His family and pueblo traditions have influenced him greatly: large scale pottery from his grandmother Carmelita Dunlap and his Uncle Carlos Dunlap; and unusually colored slips from his mother Martha Appleleaf. His blue-on-black pottery is particularly distinctive. Lately he has been revisiting old San Ildefonso Polychrome style. A large Polychrome storage jar won a Best of Division Ribbon at the 2017 Santa Fe Indian Market.
