Albert Alvidrez
Albert Alvidrez is a member of the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo-Tigua Indian Reservation located in El Paso County, Texas. He has been working with clay for over twenty-nine years. “I strongly believe pottery is a cultural patrimony that will explain tribal traditions and customs for generations to come. Our Pueblo has had many pottery painters but very few pottery makers in recent times. I want to revive the tradition of making pottery and painting. I work in both traditional and contemporary styles.“
He has served his tribal community in a variety of way including as Tribal Governor for nine consecutive terms.
Albert is an avid pueblo pottery collector and dedicates much time researching Isleta pottery. He lives on the reservation and works on pottery from his in-house studio, the kitchen table.
